How to install Microsoft Office?

While the installation and activation of Microsoft applications may appear straightforward, overlooking even a single step can lead to frustrating complications. Ensuring a seamless experience with your applications hinges on meticulously following each instruction. Our step-by-step guide will help you navigate this process smoothly, guaranteeing trouble-free operation of your Microsoft software.

Step 1: Clear existing Office applications

Before installing your new Office application, make sure to remove any existing Office applications from your computer. This is important to prevent any conflicts that may interfere with activation. 

Removing MS Office applications will not affect your files. Your files are securely saved on your device, and you can easily access them with the new Office applications.

  • Uninstall any previous Office versions.
  • Don’t forget to remove OneDrive and other Office-related applications.


Note:
To ensure that all old Office versions are completely uninstalled, you can use the Microsoft Tool for Simple Bug Fixes. Microsoft provides a detailed guide on how to uninstall all old Office versions, especially if you’ve used Microsoft 365 before. You can find the guide from the link here.

 

Once you’ve confirmed that no Office applications remain on your system, you’re ready to set up your new Office.

 

Step 2: Downloading your new Office

In the email you received containing your product information, you’ll find links to download the Office suite you’ve purchased. To begin the download:

  • Simply click on the provided link in the email.
    (Copy the link and paste it into your internet browser. We recommend that you try it in different browsers.)
  • You can also access the installation links by clicking this link.

 

Click Download, then the installation file will be downloaded.


Step 3: Open the downloaded file

After the download is complete, you’ll find the file in your downloads folder. To open the file, right-click and click ‘Mount’.

 

Note: To access this file, you may need virtual DVD player software, which is often pre-installed on most devices. However, if you encounter difficulties opening the file, we can recommend a few free applications. These applications typically offer a 21-day free trial period, allowing you to complete your task.

We recommend using Elby Virtual CloneDrive software, which can be downloaded from the following link: Elby Virtual CloneDrive Download. This application is a reliable option to help you with this stage. Once you have it installed, proceed with mounting the file as described in this instruction.

 

You might encounter a warning about potential risks associated with these applications. Please disregard this warning and proceed by choosing the “Open” option. If you have concerns about the file’s safety, rest assured that it has been shared by Microsoft and is verified as safe. 

 

Step 4: Start the application installation

To start the installation, right-click on “Setup” and click “Run as administrator”.

 

Note: Please click on the Setup option shown with an arrow in the photo below. If you click on other setup options, you may receive an error message.

If you see a notification asking for permission to run the software, please click More info > Run anyway to proceed with the installation.

 

Step 5: Activate your applications

Click on the ‘Install now‘ file. Then the installation will start.

 

After the installation is completed, click Close.

 

Once the installation process is complete, simply open any Microsoft Office application, such as Excel.

 

Accept the license agreement.

 

At the bottom-left of the application, you’ll find the “Account” section. Click on Account.

Then, click on the “Change Product Key” (or Activate Product) option. 

 

Enter the 25-character Office Activation product key you received from us.

Then, click “Activate Office.” Your product will be successfully activated at this point.

 

Congratulations! You’ve now completed the activation process and have permanent access to your Office application.

1. **Change the Operating System App Settings**  

   You should allow Windows to install apps outside the Microsoft Store.  

   **To modify the app permissions on Windows 10:**

   1. Open the Settings app.

   2. Open Apps settings and select Apps and Features from the left sidebar.

   3. Select Anywhere from the dropdown menu under Choose where to get apps.

   **To modify app permissions on Windows 11:**

   1. Open the Settings app.

   2. Select the Apps tab.

   3. Go to Advanced app settings.

   4. Select Anywhere from the dropdown menu next to Choose where to get apps.

2. **Disable Windows S Mode**  

   If S Mode is enabled on your device, it will restrict you to only installing apps from the Microsoft Store and prevent you from installing the latest Windows updates. To turn it off, follow these steps:

   1. Open the Settings app.

   2. Navigate to the System tab and go to Activation.

   3. Click on Go to the store under Switch to Windows 11 Home/Pro, which will take you to the Microsoft Store page where you can opt out of S Mode.

   4. Click the Get button and follow the on-screen instructions to get out of S Mode.
